I enjoyed the cozy atmosphere of the hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful. My room was clean and spacious, perfect for relaxing after a long day. The hot breakfast every morning was a delight, fresh and tasty. I really appreciated the lovely walk by the River Tweed. the dining area could benefit from better seating arrangements. The portions for dinner were a bit small, leaving me wanting more after delicious meals. I had a nice stay, but addressing the dining experience would make it even better.

We had a fantastic time enjoying the beautiful view of the Eildon hills and strolling into Melrose, which is just a pleasant 15-minute walk away to visit the charming Melrose Abbey. the overall experience was enjoyable with friendly staff, although the room decor could use a bit of updating.

the waverley is a lovely spot with friendly reception staff. our dogs were treated just as kindly! the standard double room was clean, comfortable, and had enough space for us. i really enjoyed the hot, delicious food from the new chef, and our waitress maggie was super attentive. the grounds were nice, perfect for a walk down to the river.

Observing the picturesque grounds adds charm to the overall experience. The historic architecture invites one to ponder the stories within its walls, while the entertainment in the evenings draws a lively atmosphere that offsets some of the other quirks.
The decor exhibits signs of wear and could use a refresh—particularly in common areas. The bar selection felt limited when I encountered a broken vendor and had to forgo a nightcap. Daily breakfast choices have taken a nosedive, shifting from a buffet to a menu that leads to smaller portions, leaving me feeling slightly underwhelmed. The shower pressure leaves much to be desired, and some facilities, like the heated towel rail, are oddly placed. getting to it could be a challenge for anyone not willing to work a bit of yoga into their routine. While I appreciated the location, the limited dining hours and layout quirks left me wishing for something a bit easier to navigate.

The grounds feature a lovely path down to the river, perfect for a nice stroll. Cozy public areas provide a comfortable atmosphere for relaxing after a day of exploring.
The hotel's decor screams 'dated' with a noticeable dusty smell permeating the hallways. it could really use a solid upgrade. The compact Standard Double Room I stayed in had a rather uncomfortable bed that disrupted my sleep, and it didn’t help that both hot and cold taps in the bathroom were mislabeled, creating a definite safety concern. During breakfast, I spotted moldy bread, and waiting for hot food to be refilled took far too long for a meal meant to kickstart the day.

The stay was lovely and the hearty full Scottish breakfast really hit the spot, and the cozy single room had everything I needed for a comfortable night. I enjoyed a peaceful stroll in the beautiful gardens and took a moment to unwind by the charming courtyard. One thing to note is that the room lighting could have been a bit brighter, but it didn’t take away from the overall experience! 😊

gorgeous building, attractive grounds, great parking facilities
Dinner seating needs rethinking!!! Being squeezed next to others in an empty restaurant is ridiculous!!! service timelines seem poorly managed, leading to frustrating waits and confusion over food availability!!!
